The Legend of Czee Hollow - Custom Pumpkid

A custom built on Czee's Pumpkid vinyl figure for a show at Clutter Gallery NY.

Pumpkid is a clearly realised character design and I wanted this custom to stay true to its origin. I made some subtle changes to the face shape and extended the figure's limbs to give me more scope for a dynamic pose. I also converted the stylised robe into something like an 18th Century frock coat. The axe was made from wood.

Knowing Clutter's expertise in displaying art under blacklight, I wanted to be sure my piece would look effective in the dark, under UV and in natural light. Although the original figure boasts luminous plastic, it didn't quite suit my requirements so I built and painted over that and used flourescent pigments to highlight the areas I wanted to illuminate.
