The End of Dark Star
The end of John Carpenter's first film, Dark Star marked beginnings for some huge names in Science Fiction. Carpenter of course went on to direct favourites like Escape From New York and The Thing. Dan O'Bannon took Dark Star's subplot and gave the world a very different Alien in another ship's ventilation shafts, also designed by Ron Cobb. The film's concept of grimy blue collar space workers forever changed the once pristine onboard environments of star ships giving us everything from Star Wars to Red Dwarf.
