One Thing After Another Solo Show

I'm very grateful to Clutter Gallery for offering me my Solo Show.

The display showcases, among others a four piece series on the theme of "Random Encounters", inspired by the idea of classic Dungeons & Dragons monsters surviving in contemporary environments.

All pieces were made specially for the show and have not been seen before.

The show runs from December 12th 2020 to Jan 1st 2021 at The Clutter Gallery, 163 Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508

The Quest

This is an image that has been with me for a long time. I'm not sure exactly how it originally came to be but have always known it would need to be made on quite a large scale. My 'One Thing After Another' solo show finally gave me the opportunity to make that happen.

Sculpted in epoxy clay on a metal armature and mounted on a wooden base. Stands 44cm tall and 58cm long.

One Thing After Another

Life in the Slow Lane

Sloths have seemingly very tranquil, dreamy faces. Does this mask a secret inner turmoil or would they actually remain unphased in even the most dramatic scenario? Maybe some things just can't be rushed.

Made for my 'One Thing After Another' solo show at Clutter Gallery NY. Epoxy clay and plastic on a wooden base. Stands 12cm tall.

Random Encounters No 1

One of a short series of sculptures inspired by the idea of classic Dungeons and Dragons monsters surviving in contemporary urban environments. Random Encounters #1 shows a Beholder in a derelict building. The design of the display is intended to make the viewer feel they have suddenly come face to face with it through a doorway.

Made for my 'One Thing After Another' solo show at Clutter Gallery NY. Epoxy clay in a wooden display. Stands 21cm tall.

Random Encounters No 2

One of a short series of sculptures inspired by the idea of classic Dungeons and Dragons monsters surviving in contemporary urban environments. Random Encounters #2 shows a Rust Monster glimpsed by flashlight as it feeds on an old bike frame and beer cans in an abandoned subway tunnel.

Rust Monsters are typically seen as more of a nuisance than a danger, but all animals will defend themselves when cornered. I gave it extra eyes to accentuate its invertebrate classification, and reasoned that the weird propeller structure on the tail might be used as a threat display when the creature is disturbed.

Made for my 'One Thing After Another' solo show at Clutter Gallery NY. Epoxy clay on a wooden display base. Stands 18cm tall and 22cm wide.
